Ski-In/Ski-Out Score
How ski-in/ski-out is your SilverStar address?
Almost every home on the mountain is called ski-in/ski-out. This score shows how well each address really works on the snow, graded against the rest of SilverStar.

Test version. Every score here is a map estimate from trail, lift and elevation data. Sean is checking homes on the snow and adjusting the scores before this goes public.
How the score is worked out
Nine factors, 100 points. Walking uphill to the snow or back home counts eight times as much as walking on the flat, because climbing in boots with skis is the hard part.
| Factor | Points | Full marks when |
|---|---|---|
| Ski out from the door | 15 | You reach the snow or a lift base within about 40 m, with no climb. |
| Ski back to the door | 15 | A run or lift base brings you within about 40 m of the door, with no climb. |
| Access trail difficulty | 15 | The easiest route out and home is green. Blue earns partial points, black few. |
| Distance to a lift | 10 | A chair or gondola within about 250 m. |
| Rides to the whole mountain | 10 | Your first lift reaches the upper mountain. |
| Night skiing | 5 | A night lift (gondola or Silver Queen) is close by and you can ski home from its top. |
| Route reliability | 10 | No long flat spots to pole across, and no road crossings. |
| Getting home from the mountain | 10 | You can ski home from most main lifts. Half credit if it takes one extra lift. |
| At-the-door features | 10 | Ski or boot room, ski storage, heated garage or mudroom. |
Homes are graded against each other at SilverStar. The best-scoring address is set to 95 and every other score is scaled to match. Road crossings and at-the-door features are assumed typical until Sean checks a home on the snow.
