Does SilverStar offer free guided mountain tours?
Yes. SilverStar’s volunteer Mountain Hosts lead free guided tours every day at 9:30 a.m. in the ski season, weather permitting. Meet in front of Town Hall, beside the village grooming map, at 9:20 a.m. You need a valid lift ticket or pass and should be comfortable on green runs; under-19s need a parent or guardian. Tours start once the alpine opens, tentatively November 27, 2026.

What the tour covers
Hosts show you how the mountain fits together: which lifts link the front side and the Putnam Creek backside, where the best groomers are that morning, hidden gems, photo viewpoints and how ski-in/ski-out access works from the village. Nordic tours give a sampler of the cross-country network. Hosts also help with coffee, lunch and après picks, tickets, lessons and events.
How to join
- When: daily at 9:30 a.m. in ski season, weather and operations permitting.
- Where: in front of Town Hall by the village grooming map; arrive by 9:20.
- Cost: free, with a valid lift ticket or pass.
- Who: all abilities, but you should be confident on green runs. Groups and clubs can book through mountainhosts@skisilverstar.com.
Bringing kids?
Everyone is welcome on the tour as long as they can ski a green run comfortably. Mountain Hosts don’t take children on their own, though: guests under 19 must ski with a parent or guardian.
If you’d like the kids in good hands while you get out and explore, SilverStar has a great ski school, with group lessons from age 3 that meet at the Adventure Centre. Then come join the 9:30 tour yourself: it’s the best way to see every part of the mountain and learn how the lifts connect, so you know where to go when the family skis together.
Fridays with Sean
Sean Phillips hosts on Fridays. He is also a local REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Executives Realty, so guests often ask him what it is like to own up here.
