Two mountains in one
SilverStar has 3,282 acres and 132 runs across two distinct sides. The front side, above the village, is sunny, groomed and family friendly. The Putnam Creek side drops into long, steep fall-line runs and tree skiing, and on a powder day it is where locals head first. The Schumann Summit Express, an eight-passenger gondola opened in 2018, reaches the summit from the village in a few minutes.
For run names and the best routes for each ability, see the SilverStar trail guide.
Nordic capital of Canada
Together with the neighbouring Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre, SilverStar grooms more than 105 km of cross-country trails every day in season, the largest daily-groomed network in the country. National teams train here early in the season, and many owners ski Nordic as much as alpine.
The village
The village is compact and mostly car-free, with Victorian-style buildings painted in bright colours. Most visitors walk everywhere, and many homes are ski-in/ski-out. Read what ski-in/ski-out really means at SilverStar before you buy.
Four seasons
In summer the lifts carry mountain bikers to more than 50 km of downhill trails, and hikers to alpine meadows full of wildflowers. More owners now live here year round. See mountain living at SilverStar.
Getting there
SilverStar is 22 km northeast of Vernon, about 25 minutes on a paved mountain road, and roughly an hour and a quarter from Kelowna International Airport.
