Who can manage your SilverStar condo or chalet, where you must use a particular manager, and the questions to ask before you sign.

Who manages short-term rentals at SilverStar?
The main options are SilverStar Holidays (the resort’s own rental program, booked through SilverStar Central Reservations), Silver Star Stays (a locally run manager with over 150 units), The Pinnacles for its own suites, and listing services such as Owner Direct, Airbnb and Vrbo for owners who self-manage. Alpine Meadows rentals must go through Central Reservations; in The Ridge you can choose.

Where the choice is made for you
- Alpine Meadows: rentals must be managed through SilverStar Central Reservations.
- The Ridge: short-term rentals are allowed with no mandatory manager.
- Hotel condos: usually a rental pool or management agreement with its own fees and owner-use limits.
- Every rental: needs a provincial short-term rental registration number, and must fit the strata bylaws. See the five layers of rental rules.
Questions to ask a manager
- What is the commission, and what does it include (cleaning, linens, hot tub service, snow clearing)?
- How many nights did comparable units book last winter and last summer?
- How many owner-use nights do you keep, and how much notice do you need?
- Who handles the provincial registration, PST and the hotel tax?
- Can I leave the program, and on what notice?
