Ski-In/Ski-Out Score

How ski‑in/ski‑out is your SilverStar address?

How the score is worked out

Nine factors, 100 points. Walking uphill to the snow or back home counts four times as much as walking on the flat, because climbing in boots with skis is the hard part.

FactorPointsFull marks when
Ski out from the door15You reach the snow or a lift base within about 60 m, with no climb. Credit fades gradually to nothing at about 400 m.
Ski back to the door15A run or lift base brings you within about 60 m of the door, with no climb. Credit fades gradually to nothing at about 400 m.
Access trail difficulty15The easiest route out and home is green. Blue earns partial points, black few.
Distance to a lift10A chair or gondola within about 250 m.
Rides to the whole mountain10Your first lift reaches the upper mountain.
Night skiing5A night lift (gondola or Silver Queen) is close by and you can ski home from its top.
Route reliability10No long flat spots to pole across, and no road crossings.
Getting home from the mountain10You can ski home from at least one main lift, with the most points when the way home is an easy green run. A little less if it takes one extra lift.
At-the-door features10Ski or boot room, ski storage, heated garage or mudroom.

Homes are graded against each other at SilverStar. The best-scoring address is set to 100 and every other score is scaled to match. Road crossings and at-the-door features are assumed typical until Sean checks a home on the snow.
